Bells are removed from the tower

On Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th October 2012, all eigth bells were lowered down the tower and placed on pallets in the porch. The bells and fittings were then put on display for the local community to take the opportunity to view them at close quarters. The bells were removed by five of the local ringers under the supervision of bell hanger, Neil Thomas, from the Whitechapel Bell Foundry

Video of the 7th being lowered through the ringing room trap. It was a tight fit. The tenor bell with its head stock still attached was to large to fit through the traps. So the tenor was lowered down with its head stock removed.
